Privacy policy

Who this covers
This policy describes the Rippit iPhone app and this website. Rippit does not ask you to make an account. Most of what the app knows stays on your phone.
Questions and requests go to REPLACE_EMAIL. Replace that address with a mailbox you actually read before you submit the app.
The short version
Rippit does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and it does not show ads. Photos and text you choose to send are used to write lines. Favorites stay on the device. Apple handles your payment.
What stays on your iPhone
The app stores these on the device, including in UserDefaults and, for favorites, in an on-device database:
- Your name, age (the dial runs from 13 to 65), sense of humor, what you want lines for, interests, teams, games, and artists, if you enter them.
- Lines you mark as favorites.
- Photos you save inside Rippit, and lines written for those photos.
- Whether a subscription is active, so the app can stay unlocked.
- Topic choices for widgets, and the widget’s local copy of upcoming lines.
Deleting the app deletes this on-device copy.
Photos and other content used to write lines
If you start a trial or subscription and then ask for lines on a photo, the photo and any note you type are sent to Google Gemini through Firebase AI Logic, in the Firebase project used by Rippit. The same path is used when you ask for a reply. A chat screenshot is held in memory for that request and is not saved into your photo library by the app.
This is app functionality. It is not used for advertising and it is not linked to your identity by Rippit. Google processes the request under its own terms. Rippit does not control how long Google keeps a request, and this policy does not promise that Google deletes it on a particular schedule.
If generation fails, times out, or is blocked, the app shows lines from the library already on your phone. Nothing new is uploaded in that case.
Likes on library lines
A favorite updates the count on your phone immediately. If that line is still a favorite the next day, the app can add one to a shared total in Cloud Firestore. The total is not tied to your name. Firebase App Check is on for that database. The starting numbers in the app are placeholders until real favorites replace them.
Purchases
Subscriptions are sold by Apple. Rippit receives the fact that a subscription is active or not. It does not receive your card number. Apple’s privacy policy covers the payment.
Permissions
- Photo library, so you can pick a picture for a line or a screenshot for a reply, and so you can save a card back to Photos.
- Camera, so you can take a photo for a line.
- Notifications, only if you turn on Daily Rips, or for a quiet reminder before a free trial ends. The trial reminder can be scheduled without a permission prompt, and it stays quiet unless you have allowed notifications.
You can change these in iOS Settings.
What we do not do
No advertising SDK. No sale of personal information. No tracking. No use of your photos to build an ad profile. The website does not set analytics cookies.
Children
Rippit is not directed at children under 13. The age question starts at 13. If you believe a child under 13 has sent a photo or a note through the app, write to REPLACE_EMAIL and we will delete what we can identify. Shared like totals are not stored under a name, so there may be nothing personal to delete on the server.
Your choices
You can skip photos, turn topics off, turn Daily Rips off, and delete the app. To ask about content that was sent to generate a line, email REPLACE_EMAIL. Because those requests are not filed under an account, we may not be able to find a specific photo after the request has finished.
If you live in California, the categories above are the personal information the app can collect: photos or videos, other content you submit, product interaction (a favorite), and purchase history (subscription status). Rippit does not sell or share that information as those words are used in the California Consumer Privacy Act. You can ask for access or deletion at the email above. We will not discriminate against you for asking.
This website
The site is static. It does not ask you to sign in, and it does not send anything you type to a server.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. The privacy link in the app and on the App Store listing will point at the current version.
